Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 19, 2026 · Last Updated: March 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Full Disk Clean (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our macOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
The short version: Full Disk Clean does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All file scanning and analysis happens entirely on your Mac. Nothing ever leaves your device.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Full Disk Clean is designed with privacy at its core. The App does not collect, record, store on our servers, or transmit any user data of any kind.
2. Information the App Accesses Locally
To perform its core function of analyzing disk usage, the App reads the following file metadata on your device only:
- File and folder names
- File sizes
- File paths and directory structure
- File modification dates
- File type identifiers
This data is processed entirely in memory on your Mac. The App does not read, analyze, or access the contents of your files — only the metadata listed above.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, Full Disk Clean does not collect or use:
- Analytics or telemetry data
- Crash reports or diagnostic data
- Device identifiers, serial numbers, or hardware information
- Usage statistics or behavioral data
- Location data
- Advertising identifiers or tracking pixels
- Cookies or web tracking technologies
- User accounts, email addresses, or contact information
- Any data transmitted over the internet
4. How the App Works
4.1 File System Scanning
When you initiate a scan, the App reads file metadata (names, sizes, paths, dates) from directories you have granted access to. This information is used solely to display disk usage visualizations and identify reclaimable space. Scan results exist only in your device’s memory during active use and are not stored persistently.
4.2 Security-Scoped Bookmarks
The App uses macOS security-scoped bookmarks — an Apple-sanctioned mechanism for sandboxed applications — to remember folders you have granted access to. These bookmarks are stored locally on your device in the App’s sandboxed container and contain only access tokens, not file contents or metadata. You can revoke access at any time by resetting the App’s permissions in macOS System Settings or by deleting the App.
4.3 File Cleanup Operations
When you choose to clean files, the App moves selected items to the macOS Trash at your explicit direction. The App does not empty the Trash automatically. Files in Trash can typically be recovered until you manually empty the Trash. The App does not permanently delete any files.
4.4 Caching
The App may cache scan results locally on your device to improve performance on subsequent scans. This cached data is stored in the App’s sandboxed container and is accessible only to the App. It is automatically removed when you delete the App.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not share, sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transmit any information to third parties. Since we collect no data, there is no data to share.
Full Disk Clean does not integrate any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, social media SDKs, or crash reporting frameworks.
6. Data Security
Full Disk Clean is distributed as a sandboxed macOS application through the Mac App Store. The App operates within Apple’s security sandbox, which restricts its access to only the files and folders you have explicitly granted permission to. The App does not request or use network entitlements for data collection purposes.
7. Mac App Store and Payment Data
Full Disk Clean is distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. All purchase transactions are processed by Apple. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information, billing details, or Apple ID information. Apple’s handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
8. Children’s Privacy
Full Disk Clean is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, no special provisions are required.
9. Your Rights Under GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. Since Full Disk Clean does not collect, store, or process any personal data on our servers or transmit any data off your device, these rights are inherently satisfied — there is no personal data for us to access, rectify, erase, or port.
The App processes file metadata (which may theoretically include personal data, such as file names containing personal identifiers or user-specific file paths) solely on your local device for the purpose of providing disk analysis. This processing is based on your explicit consent (by granting folder access) and is necessary for the performance of the App’s core function. No data is transmitted to us or any third party.
10. Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.
Full Disk Clean does not collect any personal information as defined under the CCPA. We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties. Since no personal information is collected, there is no information to disclose, delete, or opt out of.
11. International Data Transfers
Since Full Disk Clean does not collect or transmit any data, no international data transfers occur. All data processing happens locally on your device, regardless of your geographic location.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or our website. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
